When colours unite
Executive Creative Director Michael Dole created When Colours Unite for Virgin Australia — the public face of a new Purpose and Values built for the entire Virgin Australia group, and proof of what happens when an idea is allowed to run the whole business. Not a campaign bolted onto an airline. A belief the airline decided to act on.
The belief started with an honest look at the game Australia loves most. Racism was a barrier inside football — for players, for supporters, and for Virgin's own people. But every weekend, the same game quietly staged the answer. In the stands, nobody asks where you're from. They ask who you go for. Fans unite under the colours of their team — and in that moment, the only colours that matter are the ones you choose to wear, never the ones you're born with. The idea didn't need to invent unity. It needed to hold a mirror up to a hundred thousand people already living it every Saturday.
