HELLYERS ROAD

Into the unknown

Writer & Director Michael Dole & The Daughters take us Into the Unknown with Hellyers Road, a short film that traces the restless spirit of a North-West Tasmanian whisky born from dairy farmer families who dared to believe their wild corner of the world could create something extraordinary. Drawing on the legacy of surveyor and explorer Henry Hellyer and the physical road that once cut through the site of today’s distillery, the film follows a modern wanderer whose inner and outer journey mirrors that original leap into uncharted territory. Moving through the raw, windswept landscapes of Burnie and beyond, his search becomes a meditation on courage, resilience and the choice to take the road less travelled.

Into the Unknown brings Hellyers Road’s pioneering origins to life as a contemporary story of independent Tasmanian grit and quiet conviction, and of a whisky shaped by those who were willing to keep going, even when the map ran out.
