Everything we create outlives the moment it was made for. A brand, a film, a story, an image — it doesn't end when the campaign does. It becomes part of the world a child grows up inside: the things they're taught to want, the stories they're told about who matters, the pictures they learn to call normal. Someone is always building that world. We'd rather it was built by people who care what it does to the ones inheriting it.

That's the whole reason Daughter exists. Founded in 2019 by Michael Dole and Annika Johansson, we gather the right makers around each idea and make it as beautifully as we can — not to fill a feed or win a quarter, but to leave something worth keeping. We believe nothing moves people unless it's true. And we believe the truest measure of any work isn't whether it sells today, but whether you'd be proud to hand it to your daughter, your son, the generation that gets whatever we leave behind.

So we make fewer things, and we make them to last. We make as if the future is already watching — because it is, and it remembers.

Michael Dole

FOUNDER

Michael Dole is a director, creative director, filmmaker and artist who has spent more than 25 years working across narrative, commercial and artistic disciplines, on four continents.

His films are built on the same foundations: self-aware, authentic insight, honest human performance, and finely crafted visual storytelling — an approach that holds across commercials, music videos, drama and documentary alike.

He has directed work for Virgin, Tiger, Samsung, G.H. Mumm, Netball Australia, Tourism Northern Territory and Johnson & Johnson, and music videos for Flume, The Avalanches, GRAACE and Stevan.

Michael co-founded Daughter Collective in 2019 with Annika Johansson, and leads the studio as Director across brand, film, content and design. He is also the writer and director of the feature film Someone's Daughter.

Annika Johansson

FOUNDER

Annika Johansson is a writer, creative director and executive producer, and co-founder of Daughter Collective, the studio she started with Michael Dole in 2019.

She has spent close to thirty years working with words — conceptualising, copywriting and editing across advertising and brand — and brings that discipline to everything the studio makes: the instinct to find the true thing in a brief and say it plainly. She also teaches the craft, as a creative and novel-writing tutor at The Writers' Studio.

At Daughter Collective she leads the writing and creative direction, and produces the work that gets made — shaping the voice and the stories beneath the films, brands and campaigns.

She is also a published novelist and author of Downstream. It's the same belief that runs through everything Daughter makes: that nothing moves people unless it's true, and the truest measure of a story is whether you'd be proud to hand it to the next generation.
